The Lough Swilly RNLI has warmly thanked Bernard McConway for his generous €1,000 donation to the organisation.

Quigley’s Point man Bernard raised the sum for the local rescue charity following additional sales from his book ‘Inishowen 100 Peaks’.

The 28-year-old had undertaken a challenge to hike up and down 100 of Inishowen’s highest hills in order to raise funds for charity and create more awareness of mental health issues locally.

Bernard, who completed the challenge in eight months, had been open about his own past mental health struggles.
He donated a further €1,000 to the Lough Swilly RNLI in recent weeks, having already donated close to €3,500 last year to the Buncrana-based rescue service, which had previously come to his aid.

So far he has raised more than €11,000 for local good causes, including Lough Swilly RNLI, Insight Inishowen and the Donegal Mountain Rescue Service. An amazing achievement. Meanwhile the RNLI has also thanked Brian McVeigh for his kind donation of €200.
