A new project at The Exchange in Buncrana which involves Carnegie Hall in New York is helping new families to create their own unique lullabies.

Loving Lullabies and Little Necessities is a community initiative designed to support new families as they embark on their parenting journey.

Funded through the Kathryn Howard Foundation, the project, which involves Carnegie Hall as a partner, revolves around lullaby creation where new and expecting families work with songwriters and musicians to create soothing, personalised lullabies tailored to their unique tastes and cultural background.

The lullabies are aimed at fostering bonding between parents and their newborns to create a calming and loving connection, and shared experience.

The packs contain some fundamental items required to care for a newborn, and are presented in a very functional and beautiful nappy bag. The goal is to ease the transition into parenthood by ensuring parents have access to necessary tools to care for their infants.

Musician Bernie Doherty, the chairperson of The Exchange, and Ruth Garvey-Williams. are behind the project said: “This project aims to celebrate the joys of new parenthood while providing tangible support and creating lasting memories through the universal language of music and the provision of essential care items.
