A man has appeared in court charged with assaulting two teenage girls at the turning on the Christmas lights in Buncrana.

Davor Bosnak is charged with assault causing harm to the two girls at Ardavan, Buncrana on Friday night at approximately 8pm.

The accused, aged 42, appeared at a special sitting of Donegal District Court in Donegal Town on Saturday afternoon.

He appeared before Judge Ciaran Liddy where he faced two charges of assault causing harm.

It is understood the alleged assaults took place in the centre of the town which had been very busy following the official switching on of the town's Christmas lights.

The charges against Bosnak, of Marian Park, Buncrana, are contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
