Donegal Mountain Rescue coffers get a hike from unclaimed money at Garda station

Letterkenny District Court heard that various sums of money and wallets had been handed into the station and has been unclaimed for over a year

The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist.

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team will benefit to the tune of over €500 from unclaimed monies handed into Letterkenny Garda Station in the last year.

Letterkenny District Court heard that various sums of money and wallets had been handed into the station.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that no-one has claimed the sums.

In total, €469.22 and £30 sterling was the subject of an application for forfeiture to the State.

Sergeant Collins said that all monies in respect of the application exceeded one year and one day. Sergeant Collins suggested that the money be given to they Donegal Mountain Rescue Team.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said she was satisfied that every effort had been made in relation to the funds and granted the order as sought.
