The motorist was clocked on the N13 road at 159km/h
A Donegal motorist caught driving at 159km/h was found to be drunk and under the influence of drugs.
Gardai from the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit detected the vehicle on Tuesday evening while conducting a speed check.
Officers, who were located on the N13 Letterkenny-Derry road close to Newtowncunningham stopped the car a short time later.
The road in question is governed by a 100km/h speed limit.
The driver failed a roadside breath test. Gardai also found that the driver had cocaine and amphetamines in their system.
The motorist was arrested and charged to appear in court.

During the last week, there were 17 people arrested in Donegal for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gardai arrested 13 people for drink-driving and four for drug-driving.
Garda Grainne Doherty said: “We ask all drivers to please think about road safety this week and to make changes if necessary to their driving behaviour in order to make our roads safer.
“It is obvious that the road safety message is just not being taken seriously by everybody unfortunately.”
So far in 2024, 15 people have lost their lives on Donegal roads and Sinn Fein Councillor Terry Crossan has called for more permanent speed cameras to be installed across the county.
One of the nine new speed cameras in Ireland will be located on the N13 near where Tuesday’s detection was made. This follows an assessment process through the RSA, An Gardai Siochana and the TII.
Councillor Crossan said: "I feel we should have a far more visible garda presence on our roads. We need fixed speed cameras at specific locations.
"Unfortunately, a lot of young people are involved in accidents and unfortunately, speed is an issue in some instances.
"Gardaí should be given more resources to enable them to be more proactive in helping them to reduce road deaths, I feel this can only be achieved through a greater level of enforcement."
