Harpist Kieva McGonagle is releasing her debut EP Across the Atlantic later this month
An Inishowen harpist based in Boston is about to release her debut EP, which is influenced by music from both sides of the Atlantic.
Kieva McGonagle from Redcastle has been living in Boston for the past two years.
A harp player for 10 years, she started playing aged 14 in the Ceolan School of Music in Moville under Joleen McLaughlin of The Henry Girls.
After finishing the Leaving Cert, Kieva went on to study Irish music at the University of Limerick where she was taught by award-winning composer Aisling Lyons.
Her EP is called Across the Atlantic because she has been living and working in Boston the past two years and recorded the EP in Boston as well. Her mum Serena McGonagle helped come up with the name.

The EP is a mixture of tunes and songs that Kieva picked up both from home in Ireland and Boston.
Kieva has been working on the EP for over a year.
“I’d like to thank Michael Harmon for helping with the EP as he did all the hard work which included recording and mixing the EP and he even features on a few tracks! Without him this all wouldn’t be possible.”
Across the Atlantic will be released on Friday, October 18 on Spotify.
