The weather station at Malin Head has recorded its wettest August on record.

The climate statement for August 2024, which has been released by Met Éireann, shows that Malin Head recorded its wettest August in the dataset.

The Malin Head station has been in operation for 69 years, since 1955 when regular hourly weather observations commenced by Irish Meteorological Service personnel.

Malin Head recorded 181.3mm of rain during the 31 days of August.

The Malin Head station also had 29 rain days in August.

Malin Head had the lowest sunshine total of any station across the country with just 121.2 hours in August.

The Finner Camp station had its highest mean wind for August on record.
