A Buncrana-based couple have established a pop-up shop at The Plaza.
Cyndi and Mark Smith opened The Rabbit Hole late last month. Cyndi is originally from South Africa, while Mark is a Buncrana native and the couple settled in Donegal together three years ago.
The Rabbit Hole offers a range of own-brand clothing, bags, crochet items, art, creative supplies and mugs.
They established a brand each, Cyndi started Pheonix Rose - a ladies' clothing brand - and her husband set up Energy 17, a unisex clothing range.
“We thought there is scope for something different like this in the area,” Cyndi tells DonegalLive. “We wanted to get local people involved and be a part of the community while also launching our brands. We are ever so grateful to [manager] Ursula McDaid at the Plaza for being so accommodating in getting us up and running.”
Sustainability is at the forefront of the brand, the products on sale are all manufactured in Belgium from organic cotton and are eco-friendly. All designs are original and printed locally in Muff.
“We have tried to be as environmentally friendly as possible,” Cyndi adds.
Along with the pop-up shop, Cyndi also runs crochet classes for all skill levels on a Wednesday evening in Buncrana and on a Thursday evening in Carndonagh.
“I work with each attendee on a personal basis, whether you're a beginner or have been crocheting for a while,” she says. “I find it good for mental health, especially in the fast-paced environment we live in, crocheting is my safe haven.”
The Rabbit Hole pop-up shop will be open in the Plaza on Main Street Buncrana, every day except Wednesday. From Monday to Saturday the pop-up shop is open from 11am to 6pm and on Sunday the opening hours are 2pm to 6pm.
