McDermott and Devine take roles on Enhanced Defective Block Grant Scheme Committee

Martin McDermott was elected at the Carndonagh count in local elections last month

Councillor Martin McDermott was elected Chairperson of the Enhanced Defective Block Grant Scheme Committee on Donegal County Council on Monday.

McDermott, of Fianna Fáil, was proposed by Sinn Féin’s Gerry McMonagle and was seconded by Ali Farren. The consensus from McMonagle was that he had planned to nominate someone from the 100% Redress Party, although felt it best to give their four-strong contingent on the council 12 months to gain experience. Councillor Tomás Seán Devine of the 100% Redress Party took the Vice Chair position, having been nominated by party colleague Councillor Joy Beard and seconded by Independent Declan Meehan.
