A fire which destroyed a car in Buncrana recently may have been started deliberately, Gardai have said,

On Wednesday, June 19, at 3.20am, Gardaí responded to an assistance call from the Fire Service to the scene of a car fire at the Courtyard Apartments in Buncrana.

The car in question was destroyed as a result of the fire and an investigation has been launched.

“It has not been ruled out that the fire may have been started maliciously,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“If anybody has any relevant information in relation to this incident, we ask them to contact Gardaí in Buncrana on 074-9320540.

“ The Garda Confidential line may be contacted on 1800 666 111.

“If anybody travelled in that area with a dash-cam between 1am and 3.15am, we ask them to make the footage available to us.”
