Speeding through the village is one of the issues to be raised at a meeting in Fahan

Residents of Fahan are being asked to attend a public meeting to address a wide range of issues facing the Inishowen village.

Fahan Residents Association has called the meeting to form a new committee to tackle issues including traffic, speeding and pedestrian crossings litter and clean-ups, the future development of village, the proposed greenway through the village, developments at the marina and Lough Swilly water quality.

The meeting is taking place in the Fowler Hall, Tooban at 7.30 pm on Monday, June 17. The Fahan Residents Association is part of the Fahan Community Development Partnership CLG, which is also the parent group of Fahan Heritage Committee which is working to put in place protection for the 1,400 year-old St Mura's Cross in the village.

“The idea is to create a stronger sense of community and give residents the opportunity to voice their concerns about things they see as problematic and might be improved,” a spokesperson for the residents association said.

“Representatives from any of the village's residents committees are invited to come along and see how we can all work in a mutually beneficial way.”

The association wants to hear from anyone who could help the association by giving “a few hours a year to help make the village better”.
