Independent candidate Adrian McMyler
An election candidate in Donegal has expressed anger after having his posters burned and vandalised.
Adrian McMyler, an Independent candidate in the Buncrana local electoral area, has vowed to bring those responsible to task.
The Buncrana native, who is involved with Buncrana Children's Charity, will stand in the local elections next month.
“It is so tough seeing my posters burned down and vandalised with hurtful messages,” he said.
“I'm just a young person trying to help my community, and this is really disheartening and scary. Please, let's keep things respectful and positive.”
Mr McMyler said that investigations are ongoing into the vandalism.
He said: “Our local people are better than this. This small minority does not represent this wonderful town. Don’t let our community down.
“Additionally, those responsible for this vandalism will be caught and held accountable. Their actions will not go unnoticed, and they will be named and shamed if it continues.”
Mr McMyler pleaded with the vandals to cease and added: “Let's choose respect and civility over destruction.”
