There has been an increased volume of reports of hit and run incidents in retail car parks, Sergeant Eunan Walsh has confirmed.
All reports in relation to these types of hit and run collisions are fully investigated and Gardaí actively seek all available CCTV and witnesses in relation to them.
“We would like to remind all drivers of their obligation to report all such incidents to Gardaí eg: in the event that they have caused damage to another vehicle,” Sergeant Walsh appealed. “Should anybody witness a hit and run incident, we urge them to take note of the registration number of the vehicles in question and to pass all of the details on to Gardaí even if they themselves were not directly involved. Should anybody capture a hit and run collision on dash cam footage we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí.
