A window was broken on the front door to gain entry to Buncrana Leisure Centre
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after four individuals are understood to have broken in at the time of a fire at the leisure centre on the Shore Road in Buncrana.
Four males - three youths and one man - entered the building on Thursday, January 18 between approximately 6:10pm and 6:20pm and left a short time later via the Aileach Road in the direction of the Railway Road.
A window was broken on the front door to gain entry and a number of items were set alight within the pool area in the building.
“The fire was small and did not get out of hand thanks to the fire services who were on hand to extinguish the flames,” An Garda Siochana said. “We appeal to anybody who travelled in the areas of the Shore Road, Aileach Road or the Railway Road between 6pm and 6.30pm and who had a dash cam to make the footage available to Gardaí. Some CCTV has been obtained and is being examined. If anybody observed these males on foot we ask them to make contact with Gardaí in Buncrana also on 074-9320540.”
