Donegal wakes to a blanket of snow following another cold night

A status yellow weather warning, with snow and ice, is in place until Thursday at 11am

Parts of the county have pulled the curtains this morning to a covering of snow and Met Éireann have forecast more of the same.

"Snow showers leading to some accumulations," they said. "The potential impacts are difficult travelling conditions, with some travel and service disruption.

"Very cold this morning with frost, icy stretches, patches of fog or freezing fog. These will clear very slowly and will linger all day in places with temperatures of just 0 to 4 degrees. Mainly dry with sunny spells. Scattered wintry showers in northern areas with some snow flurries. Isolated showers in the west. Light northwest or variable breezes."

A status yellow weather warning, with snow and ice, is in place until Thursday at 11am for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
