Gardaí said they are aware that a message is in circulation through various messaging apps about a white Citroën Berlingo van
Gardaí investigating a spate of burglaries at homes and businesses in Inishowen have issued a warning over social media messages that have been circulated linking a particular van to the incidents.
Gardaí said they are aware that a message is in circulation through various messaging apps about a white Citroën Berlingo. The message states that the van may have been involved in the recent spate of burglaries.
“We wish to advise that this van is most certainly not a vehicle of interest in relation to our investigation,” gardaí said in a social media appeal.
“The driver of the van has been in the area recently conducting genuine meter readings. Should you receive a message in relation to this van we ask that it be deleted immediately and not shared. If in doubt when someone calls to your home to conduct a meter reading or to provide any type of service, please ask for ID.”
Gardaí have issued an appeal over a white Peugeot Partner van with a registration which begins in YUI which has been seen acting suspiciously in the north Inishowen area in recent weeks.
Extra Garda patrols are operating in Inishowen following 11 reported burglaries since December 10 including four on Monday night.
