The late Mary Whitters Borland
The woman who was killed in a road traffic accident in Moville on Friday morning has been named locally as Mary Whitters Borland.
Ms Whitters Borland, who was aged in her 50s, died when the car she was driving collided with a lorry on the R238 road.
The collision occurred at around 8am.
Mother-of-two Ms Whitters Borland was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time after the crash.
Ms Whitters Borland, married to Mark with two sons, Kai and Killian, was a popular figure in the Moville area.
Gardai are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. The Muff-Moville road was closed to allow for an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding this incident, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling the Muff/Moville road at the time of the incident is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”
The lorry driver, a male in his 50s, was taken to hospital for assessment.
