John Gaynor prestents Gary Mc Clintock with his certificate
A Newtowncunningham student has placed third in the 2023 National Accounting Competition.
The winners have been announced by the gamification application Quitch and CPA Ireland who sponsored the competition.
Gary McClintock is currently a first-year student in a BA (Honours) in Accounting at the Atlantic Technological University Sligo and received a €300 prize for his third place finish.
Participants in the competition included first to final year accounting and business students as well as master’s and postgrad students from 21 colleges across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Each week a range of theory-based accounting questions were released to participants on the Quitch app.
The participants scored points for correctly answers and how quick they answered the questions. Participants could monitor their progress under their avatar name and see their score on a leader board along with the other participants.
John Gaynor, Programme Chair BA (Hons) in Accounting & Lecturer in Accounting at Atlantic Technological University, Sligo Campus said: “Congratulations to Gary McClintock for winning third prize in the 2023 CPA Ireland National Accounting Computation.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Gary who is a first-year student on our BA (Hons) in Accounting at ATU Sligo. Thank you to CPA Ireland and Quitch for using technology to enhance the students learning.”
