A free menopause support workshop is be rolled out to more areas across Inishowen in a bid to give more support to local women as they enter this difficult stage in their lives.

Inishowen Development Partnership in collaboration with HSE return with another round of the very popular and informative ‘Introduction to Menopause’ workshop which will take place in Quigley’s Point Community Centre on Friday, May 19th, followed by another session in Spraoi agus Spórt premises in Carn on Thursday May 25th. Both course will run from 7-9pm.

Having already taken place in Greencastle and Clonmany earlier this year, the workshop was extremely popular with women in those areas however after individuals from Quigley’s Point and Carndonagh got in touch with the project lead Aine McLaughlin, she was only too happy to be able to facilitate the running of the course in their areas.

“We’re aiming to bring these workshops to the women that need them,” said IDP Development Officer Aine McLaughlin.

“It’s great being able to bring them to the community to the women who directly need and want them.

“Unfortunately, the menopause is something that we as women will all have to face at some stage in our lives, but by having workshops like these we want to equip women with information on symptoms and treatments and in turn hopefully ease that time for them,” added Aine.

The workshop aims to increase your understanding of the symptoms, causes and stages of the menopause. It offers information on treatments and support available to help you manage menopause.

Facilitators Anne Flanaghan and Bernie O Neill will confront all the issues of menopause head on and will discuss all your concerns, as well as giving you practical and helpful tips on dealing with what can be a difficult period for some women.

The workshop is completely free to attend, however anyone interested in attending either the Quigley’s Point session or the one in Carndonagh are asked to prebook by emailing aine@inishowen.ie or call us in Buncrana on 93-62218 to book.
