A driver was detected traveling on the N13 at 140kph in a 100 kph zone earlier today.  A fixed charge penalty notice was issued to the driver.

It comes as a 'Day of Action' is currently underway in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim. Today's operation will consist of high visibility rolling checkpoints and patrols across road corridors in the three counties from 9am to 9pm.

The focus will be on driving under the influence, speed, non wearing of seat belts and mobile phone use.

The overall objective of today’s operation is to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury collisions and to keep people safe as they take to the roads for the Bank Holiday weekend.
