Preparations in full swing for new Inishowen League Season

Preparations in full swing for new Inishowen League Season

Defending league champions Cockhill Celtic

The opening matches get underway on Sunday August 25.

One of the big questions this year is can anyone catch Cockhill Celtic. Last season they went undefeated in the league and will have similar aspirations this year.

There isn’t too much change managerially in the clubs with only Aileach changing manager for the upcoming season. Greencastle replaced Darren Hempenstall in the middle of last season with William O’Carroll, this will be his first full season in charge and he'll hope to improve on their fourth placed finish last year. Aileach who finished one place behind them have brought in Declan Lynch in the hope of closing the gap to the top four.

Questions will be asked of the promoted clubs Redcastle United and Culdaff on whether or not they can stay up or if it’ll be a straight return to the first division.

Hoping to bounce straight back up from the first division will be Moville Celtic and Glengad United following their relegation from last season. Moville have changed their manager for the upcoming season, the hope will be that they can have a new manager bounce with Pat McFadden and return to the premier division.

QPS will be hoping to improve on their mid table finish last year. They have brought in Michael McColgan to take over from manager Sean McCabe.

With only 13 points separating third from tenth last season, this year could make the league extremely competitive.

Gleneely Colts and Sea Rovers will be coming up to the first division. They will need to be ready to go straight from the start to give themselves the best possible chance of staying up.

Buncrana Reserves and Clonmany Reserves will find themselves in the second division this year. They could find it tough to regain promotion with very little points separating the top nine sides last year.
