The development includes three outdoor pitches, including a main grass pitch, a grass training pitch, a 3G pitch and a walking track
Carndonagh Football Club has been given the green light for a major sporting development on the outskirts of the town.
The club has been granted planning permission by Donegal County Council to develop a site at Carrickafoden.
The planned development is for a new two-storey clubhouse and sports hall to include changing and showering facilities, a function room and an indoor training pitch.
The development also consists of three outdoor pitches, including a main grass pitch, a grass training pitch, a 3G pitch and a walking track.
The club's proposed development at Carrickafoden is part of a joint plan to develop a €3m family hub and sport facilities in the town.
Carndonagh FC plans to vacate their current home at St Patrick's Park, which is to be turned into Donegal’s first child and family hub, developed by Spraoi, the local social enterprise.
Carndonagh FC says it has more than 320 youth members aged from four to 17 and more than 80 senior players.
Two objections from local residents were lodged against the plans expressing concern about noise and light pollution, an increase in traffic in the area and the potential impact on the Trawbreaga Bay special protection area.
