Donegal candidate Noel Jordan promises to put community sectors first if elected

Councillor Noel Jordan is the third candidate put forward by Sinn Féin in the Donegal constituency along with Deputy Pádraig MacLochlainn and Deputy Pearse Doherty.

A native of Inver, he resides in Mountcharles with his wife and two children. He has been a councillor representing the Donegal LEA for more than ten years having been elected on three occasions.

Speaking on his decision to run, Mr Jordan said: “I wanted to run for election to firmly put Donegal at the heart of the next government by getting three Sinn Féin candidates elected in Donegal. A Sinn Féin government will be transformative for Donegal and is the only way to bring about change.

“Having been a Councillor in the Donegal MD for more than ten years now, I believe my track record during that time speaks for itself and I look forward to being able to represent my county in Dáil Éireann.”

Speaking on his and the party's plans for improvements to public transport in Donegal, he said: “I want to see a new bus depot for Donegal Town, completion of the N56 road from Inver to Killybegs and more investment in the local tourism sector. I also want to push for better investment in wastewater management for Donegal towns and villages and ensure towns have proper amenities such as parks and leisure centres."

Sinn Féin as a party has said it wants to grow community resources, including investing in youth services.

“Ireland’s growing population and level of need have outstripped the degree of investment. In advance of Budget 2025, Foróige made a series of proposals for increasing youth investment, which Sinn Féin endorsed and would fully provide for.”

He concluded: “I will also be a voice for the farming and fishing industry. Two sectors left behind by successive governments. This government has shown us that they have no interest in standing up for these industries and these communities.

“Sinn Féin will have the necessary passion and ambition to reverse this neglect and the neglect of Donegal more generally.”
