Malin 1-9
Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin 3-8
There was little between the sides in the opening half hour with Naomh Padraig shading it on the scoreboard. They led by a single points 1-5 to 1-4. McColgan, who missed last week’s draw against Downings scored the Naomh Padraig goal.
Luke Rudden got Malin off to a dream start when he converted from the penalty spot two minutes into the game. But once McColgan found the net five minutes later for the lead, Naomh Padraig were never looking back.
And when Lynch rattled the union bag for Malin’s second goal five minutes into the second half, the away side’s lead was out to five points. And McIntyre made the two precious points secure on the hour mark when he pounced for goal number three for Naomh Padraig.
Naomh Padraig finished the game with 14 players after McColgan received his marching orders late on after picking up a second yellow card.
The win was vital for Naomh Padraig to secure them a place in the last eight of the championship. Malin went into the game unbeaten in their three previous games and knowing they were already safely through to the knockout stages.
Josh Conlon once again was to the fore in the scoring for Terence McLaughlin-managed side with four points while Michael Walsh, Darragh Douglas, Ryan McGeoghegan and Matthew Mullarky were also among the Malin scorers.
