John McNulty has stepped down as the Donegal senior ladies football team.

The Donegal LGFA announced his departure in a short statement.

McNulty leaves the position after one year and the decision is effective immediately the Board said.

“John is stepping away from this role for personal reasons,” they said.

“We'd like to thank John for his service and wish him well for the future.”

McNulty was appointed to the role in early November 2023, taking over after Maxi Curran's six-year tenure.

Prior to being named as the Donegal ladies manager, McNulty had spells as manager of Aodh Ruadh and his native Kilcar.

Donegal finished third in Division 2 having been relegated in 2023.

In the Ulster Championship, Donegal suffered a 0-17 to 1-13 extra time defeat to Armagh.

In the All-Ireland Senior Championship, Donegal drew with Kerry and lost to Waterford in the group phase. Donegal defeated Kildare 0-9 to 0-8 in a play-off to preserve their senior status for 2025, holding off a late fightback from the Lilywhites.
