U-21 Championships nearing knock-out stage in Donegal

After next weekend the U-21 Championships in Donegal will be ready for the knock-out stage with just a number of backlog games on this weekend.

In the A Championship Gaoth Dobhair are the only team with full points while Termon have dropped just one point.

These sides have their final fixture this weekend with Gaoth Dobhair away to Aodh Ruadh and Termon away to Dungloe. Going on form both sides should win and would finish first and second respectively in the table.

The finishing positions are important as the top four will play the next four with home advantage, eg; 1 v 8; 2 v 7; 3 v 6 and 4 v 5.

At present Four Masters sit at the top but after next weekend’s games they will likely fill the No 3 position (given their huge score difference) while Buncrana, MacCumhaill’s and Glenswilly look set to battle it out for the important fourth place.

The quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of 17/18th November.

In the U-21B Championship Malin are currently top but Glenfin and Carndonagh are poised to jump ahead of them if they win their outstanding games this weekend. Glenfin are at home to Naomh Columba and Carndonagh are at home to Ardara.

In the U-21C Championship, all teams have already played their three games with Naomh Brid, Na Dúnaibh, Killybegs and St Naul’s the top four and they will meet Robert Emmets, Naomh Muire, Lower Rosses, Red Hughs and St Mary’s Convoy respectively in the quarter-finals.
