Malin 0-12
Termon 1-11
Termon came to Malin on Sunday and got their second championship win with Daire McDaid's goal midway through the second half, the big score of the day.
There wasn't much in the game, with never more than a goal in it and the sides were level six times with Malin a point to the good at half time 0-06 0-05.
Conor O'Neill had opened the scoring for Malin up the left while we had to wait to the tenth minute for the next score from Jack Alcorn as the teams sussed each other out and got into their defensive shapes.
Christopher McLaughlin put Malin ahead after Ciaran O'Kane's midfield mark was moved into the 45' for Termon not retreating. Ryan McFadden, who had a good game round the middle, equalised after a good one two as the game went end to end.
Sean O'Neill, Malin's best player on the day, scored a swinging effort with his left boot up the right but this was cancelled out right away with an Enda McCormick free after Cian McMenamin had been felled.
Malin went two ahead when Brendan McLaughlin sped up the left and stroked over a left footed effort and this was followed by Stephen McLaughlin who ran onto Seamus Houghton's palm down after a long range free from Sean O'Neill and squeezed in from a tight angle.
Enda McCormick freed just before halftime and they won the resulting kickout and Jamie Grant, probing all day from number six, drove over.
There was still time for a long range point from play for Sean O'Neill to put Malin one up at halftime. Daire McDaid opened the second half scoring cutting in from the left but this was quickly countered by Sean O'Neill's effort from the edge of the 'D' after riding a few tackles along the way.
Enda McCormick had it even again though after neat interplay saw him on the end of the move and score from just inside the 45'.
Seamus Houghton fired over from close range, doing well to win Brendan McLaughlin's handpass across the square to turn to score.
Then came the McDaid goal, a lovely measured ball in decieved Malin corner back Sean Byrne and McDaid kept cool and collected the ball and shot low past the Malin keeper Mullarkey who advanced trying to narrow his angle.
Malin responded right away through Conor O'Neill and were level going into the last ten minutes with a super Paul McLaughlin score from distance.
It was to be Termon's day though as they hit three in a row, McDaid scored in the corner and another astray kickout saw Anthony Grant score while McCormick added another from a forward mark.
Malin won a forward mark of their own later with Terence Doherty slotting over though there were debates about both awards as the kicker may or may not have been outside the 45', especially the Malin one.
Jamie Grant capped a fine display with a breakaway point as Malin pressed forward, opting to fist over when on another day he may have went for goal, but at this stage it was the correct option as it put them three up as the clock passed 60.
Malin who mixed up their game between pacy runners and some kicks in needed a goal and a few dangerous balls in saw two inspirational blocks from Ricky Gallagher as one went for a 45' and one ended up with a free to Malin for a touch on the ground with a chance to go for goal with the last kick of the game.
With 15 Termon men on the line and a few Malin men there too, Christopher McLaughlin couldn't keep his shot low enough as it flew over the bar and the Burn Road men gained victory.
