Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill have qualified for the Brian McCormick Division 1 title with the Democrat Cup on offer after the final round of league games today.

On a busy weekend of action most of the decisions regarding promotion and relegation have also been decided.

Gaoth Dobhair had 15 points (1-17 to 0-5) against Kilcar in Magheragallon while Naomh Conaill had four points to spare  over Malin (0-12 to 1-5) in Davy Brennan Memorial Park. They will meet in the final next weekend. Naomh Conaill will be defending the title they won last year.

At the other end of Division 1 the big talking point was the defeat of Aodh Ruadh, who lost out by 1-12 to 1-8 to their neighbours, Realt Na Mara,  Bundoran, who had not won one game prior to this local derby.

St Michael’s got the win they needed against Naomh Columba to survive in the top flight while Naomh Columba join Bundoran in the drop to Division 2.

Aodh Ruadh now will have to play third from top in Division 2, Termon, in the relegation/;promotion battle.

At the top of Division 2 Buncrana were given a walkover by Na Rossa and will contest the Division 2 final with Four Masters, with both automatically promoted to Division 1 for next season.

At the bottom of Division 2, Na Rossa and Red Hugh’s are relegated while Cloughaneely will play third from top in Division 3, Naomh Brid, in the relegation/promotion battle.
