The Donegal U-16 camogie side
Donegal U-16 camogs are chasing All-Ireland glory this Sunday when they face Louth in the All-Ireland U-16 C Shield final in Abbottstown. (Throw-in 1pm).
Manus O’Donnell and Martin Tourish are the joint managers with Joanne Rushe, Loraine McCreary, Eileen Callaghan and Kathleen Doherty completing the management team. Caitriona McKinney, from Burt, is the team captain.
Donegal, Wicklow, Cavan, Mayo, Tyrone and Louth competed in the league format of the championship with the top two teams qualifying for the final.
On the back of wins over Mayo in their opening game and Tyrone, both at home, and defeats to Wicklow, Cavan and Louth, Donegal qualified for the C final.
“Louth beat us by a point up in Louth,” said O’Donnell. “But there was very little between teams and the game could have gone either way.
“It was on a Saturday evening up in Louth and I think the long bus journey was a factor so we are looking forward to playing them again.
“We played well and had very good wins over Mayo and Tyrone which saw us qualify for the final.
“Myself and Martin have been with this group of girls since they were U-14 and we won the Division 5 U-15 League with them last year.
“Most of that team are back again this season and hopefully now they can build on last year’s success and end the season on a winning note.
“We are better prepared than we were for the league meeting with Louth and we know what to expect from them. So we are really looking forward to another game with them.”
The game was originally fixed for a 2.30 pm throw-in but the start time has NOW been brought forward is to accommodate players and supporters who want to go to Donegal’s All-Ireland football semi-final meeting with Galway in Croke Park.
