'We're delighted to give the fans another day out in Croke Park' - Peadar Mogan

Donegal star Peadar Mogan is playing the football of his life at the minute with the St Naul's man scoring 0-5 on Sunday against Louth which saw him awarded the Man of the Match to go alongside his GAA/GPA Player of the Month award which he won last week

Peadar Mogan once again showed why he’s Donegal’s par excellence on Sunday, with the lightning-quick defender producing another all-round Man of the Match performance against Louth which saw his side advance to their first All-Ireland semi-final in over a decade.

With 0-5 to his name against the Wee County, the St Naul’s man is cruising to an All-Star award, no doubt, as his county prepare to face Galway for in the last four of the championship.

With Donegal overcoming Louth on a 1-23 to 0-18 point scoreline, it always looked like it was going to be a day for the Ulster champions which saw them produce 11 different scorers, 1-21 from play, and only three wides in 70-plus minutes.

A performance worthy of an All-Ireland semi-final spot no doubt. But Mogan, while happy with the performance, believes there is more work to be done.

“First and foremost, it’s brilliant to be in an All-Ireland semi-final, it’s been 2014 since we’ve been there so we’re really looking forward to it,” Mogan, who recently won GAA/GPA Player of the Month for May said following his side’s win in Croke Park.

“I suppose a bit of hard work and sheer determination, but there’s a lot to improve on there. The first half was really poor to be honest, bits of game management and closing out the game, but I suppose you get that on the big occasion and we haven’t been here in a while, but we’re very fortunate to be still in the competition and we’re absolutely delighted.”

No doubt, the Donegal team would have taken your hand off at the start of 2024 to be in an All-Ireland semi-final given their low base, with the St Naul’s man adding that they are performances that they give for the people of their county in the hope of doing them proud.

“The people of Donegal are crying out for a team to support and all we want to do is give them that. You can hear the cheer, we’re a football-mad county and we’re just delighted to be able to give these people another day out in Croke Park,” Mogan said.

“Louth are an absolute credit to their county as well. The journey they’ve come on this year and the last number of years is brilliant. Probably the three weeks caught up with them in the end but they’ve done themselves proud and great credit to them.

“It’s going to be an enjoyable few weeks and we hope to get the bodies fresh to go again.”
