The Clare footballers
Clare have made one change to their starting XV for their clash today against Donegal in MacHale Park, with Micheál Garry coming in at midfield for Darragh Bohannon who is out due to suspension.
The Banner men are looking to upset the odds today in Castlebar by gaining their first win in the All-Ireland round-robin series after falling to Cork and Tyrone in the opening two rounds.
In their last match, which was against Tyrone, Emmet McMahon, with 0-5 points, top-scored for the Banner, who finished with 14 men following a late straight red card for midfielder Darragh Bohannon, and only an unlikely combination of results in the group today will keep their interest in the series alive.
If two teams conclude with the same number of points, the head-to-head result will determine their ranking. In cases where three teams have the same number of points, the score difference will be the deciding factor.
The group winner will qualify directly for the quarter-finals, with the second-placed sides getting home advantage against the third-placed teams in the preliminary quarter-finals, which will be played the following weekend, June 22/23.
Clare have started with the same starting team in their previous two matches, so it'll be interesting to see if they can turn their fortunes around as Donegal aim to bounce back from their defeat to Cork two weeks ago.
Clare: Stephen Ryan; Manus Doherty, Cillian Brennan, Ronan Lanigan; Ikem Ugwueru, Cillian Rouine, Alan Sweeney; Micheál Garry, Brian McNamara; Gavin Murray, Dermot Coughlan, Daniel Walsh; Emmet McMahon, Aaron Griffin, Ciaran Downes
