Philip Doherty, county panellist, helped Naomh Columba to much needed win over Malin

Naomh Columba made home advantage count as they beat Malin on Sunday afternoon in Pairc na nGael.
County panellist Phillip Doherty got the home team off to a good start with a point in the opening minutes of the contest. Then in the 5th minute a long ball in from Phillip Doherty was broken down by Christopher Byrne and Padraig Byrne palmed to the net.
On 10 minutes Brendan McLaughlin responded for Malin with a point. Paul O’Hare got another point on 14 minutes before a Christopher McLaughlin free reduced it to four.
A Phillip Doherty point and a Padraig Byrne free put the home side further in front before a Sean O Neill free. In the final minutes of the half Kevin McNern and Josh Conlon traded scores before a Padraig Byrne free in added time left it Naomh Columba 1-6, Malin 0-4 at the break.
The second half was one-way traffic with Malin failing to raise a flag. Padraig Byrne started the Naomh Columba scoring from a ‘45’ and Shane Callaghan added the eighth. Further points from Kevin McNern, Pauric Hegarty and Ryan McNern followed and Shane Callaghan and Ronan Gillespie closed out the scoring.
