Sunday’s Ulster final will be a red letter day for Realt Na Mara, Bundoran’s Jamie Brennan as he will play his 100th game for Donegal when they meet Armagh in the decider in St Tiernach’s Park, Clones.
Reaching the landmark is a big occasion for any county player but to do so on a big occasion makes it even more special. Jamie made his debut on January 8 2017 against UUC in the Dr McKenna Cup in Ballybofey; his league debut v Kerry on February 5 2017 in Letterkenny and his championship debut on May 21 2017 against Antrim in Ballybofey.
On Sunday he will be hoping to add a third Ulster Senior Championship medal, having collected medals in 2018 and 1019.
Only recently Ciaran Thompson joined the 100 Club, also on a big day, the Allianz Division 2 League decider in Croke Park against Armagh, when the Naomh Conaill man captained the side in the absence of the injured Patrick McBrearty.
Eamon McGee probably holds the greatest distinction of playing his 100th game on the day that Donegal claimed their second All-Ireland senior title in 2012. Karl Lacey had played his 100th game a couple of weeks earlier than McGee in the semi-final of 2012 while Rory Kavanagh also made the 100 Club in 2012 in the opening round of the Ulster championship against Cavan.
There were a few near misses in the All-Ireland winning year of 2012 also with Neil McGee and Neil Gallagher playing their 99th game in the All-Ireland final while Paul Durcan was playing his 98th.
