Sean O'Neill was part of the Malin team that drew on Sunday against Glenfin in Division 1
Malin 0-8 Glenfin 0-8
Malin and Glenfin played out a low-scoring draw on Sunday with both defences very much on top in Division 1 at Connolly Park.
There was never more than two points in it and both teams had to be content with a share of the spoils. The visitors opened the scoring with Ciaran Brady firing over from distance, despite being under pressure. Conor O'Neill levelled with a nice score, advancing from halfway before letting fly from 30 yards out.
Brady scored another after breaking through a few tackles but Christopher McLaughlin levelled again when he scored cutting in from the right and slotting over with his left. Malin then hit the front with a Paul McLaughlin run and shot up the right but things were level at the short whistle with goalkeeper Kaine McGlynn hitting a long-range free from the ground leaving the halftime score 0-3 to 0-3.
The second half was niggly at times and there was only one score from play. Malin came out the brighter and went two ahead with a Josh Conlon free and the same player won another, which Christopher McLaughlin put over.
Glenfin levelled though from a Daniel Marley free and a 45' from keeper McGlynn again before taking the lead with what looked a fortunate point in which cornerback Ross Marley launched a long punt towards the square but the wind carried it over the bar.
Malin came back with another Christy Fildara free for another foul on Conlan. Marley and Conlan traded frees after Frank McGlynn was fouled as he kicked, with the free being awarded where the ball landed with the Malin free gained by John Gerard McLaughlin, fouled as he did well in a crowd of bodies.
Malin thought they might have won it late on when Josh Conlan freed after he was fouled but Glenfin were awarded a free to level it with the last kick and despite not being easy up stepped young Odhran O'Connor to grab the draw.
