Cathal Doherty was the driving force for Carndonagh as they earned a share of the spoils at St Eunan's on Friday night
St Eunan’s 1-11 Carndonagh 1-11
A strong second-half revival earned Carndonagh an impressive away draw to St Eunan’s in a well-contested Senior Hurling League affair at O’Donnell Park.
And a late point from Conor Fagan ensured a share of the spoils for the battling Inishowen men. The home side had the better of the exchanges in the opening half and were well worth their half-time lead of 0-8 to 0-3.
Kevin Kealy was a driving force for the home side in their opening half and struck three points from play with Brendan Gaffey, and Matt Ahern also on target. The excellent Cathal Doherty kept Carn in touch from frees while Daire Tully was equally impressive.
Carn came back strongly in the second half and chipped away at St Eunan’s lead to leave the home side leading by 0-9 to 0-7 eleven minutes into the second half. It looked like the hosts might pull clear when Russell Forde goaled in the 42nd minute.
But Doherty hit the net four minutes later to set up a frenetic finish with Daire Tully leading the Carn challenge. And Fagan was the hero with a late strike for a hard-earned point.
