Donegal GAA has confirmed the appointment of Paul O’Loughlin as Donegal GAA U-16 Academy football manager.
The Aodh Ruadh clubman, where he has worked from U-12 up to seniors since first becoming involved in 1992. He is a lecturer at South West College Omagh and has been coaching with the Donegal Academy since 2020 and worked for the Donegal LGFA from 2021 until 2023. O’Loughlin took charge of John Mitchells in Claudy in 2013 and 2014.
As a player, he won three Senior Championship medals, two Senior Reserves and a Senior League title, and played basketball, winning two Donegal All-Star awards, three league and four cup medals.
A keen adventurer, O’Loughlin has completed 10 marathons to date including Boston, London, Dublin and Belfast. He has also completed 15 triathlons and two Half IronMan contests, a cycling Everest Challenge 10,000 metres and the Mizen to Malin Challenge.
He will be joined by coaches Danny O'Donnell and Sean Nancy Gallagher. “We wish Paul, his backroom team and all the U-16 Academy Players the best of luck in the year ahead,” Donegal GAA posted.
