Caolan McColgan is in a race against the clock to be ready for the start of next season after undergoing a recent hamstring surgery.

The Naomh Padraig Uisce Chaoin clubman had an impressive year in 2023 with Donegal and underwent surgery recently in London and is currently in the early weeks of rehabilitation.

“Caolan underwent surgery in London recently on a hamstring injury,” his club manager Daniel McCauley told Donegal Live.
“He is currently in rehab and has set a December return to training as his target.”

It is believed to be a similar injury to that suffered by Patrick McBrearty and Michael Langan, who returned to action the weekend before last for St Michael's in their Donegal SFC relegation clash with Milford, just over five months after surgery.

McBrearty picked up the injury playing away to Tyrone in the Allianz League Division 1 in February and was back in action in June.

McColgan marked his Donegal debut with a man of the match performance against then All-Ireland champions Kerry in last season's opening Division 1 clash. On Saturday his club Naomh Padraig were beaten on penalties in the Donegal Junior A Football Championship by Moville.
