The only trend in the last couple of seasons saw the defeated finalists come back the following season to win with Cloughaneely and Dungloe winning the competition in 2021 and last year respectively.
This year will possess the same unpredictability no doubt and bar Dungloe, the other three sides who reached the semi-finals last season, runners-up Naomh Columba, as well as Gaeil Fhánada and Termon are all in one group this year, with the junior champions of 2021, Downings, Bundoran, who were relegated from the SFC last year and Naomh Bríd.
Four from the six will go through, as is the same in the group involving Malin, Buncrana, Red Hughs, Naomh Muire, Letterkenny Gaels and Burt.
