Paddy Carr names team for Donegal's McKenna Cup opener in Down

Paddy Carr has named his first Donegal team ahead of the Dr McKenna Cup opener against Down on Sunday, throw-in 1:30pm.

Michael Lynch of Gaoth Dobhair keeps goal with a full-back line of Stephen McMcMenamin of Red Hughs joined in the full-back line by St Naul's Brendan McCole and Jamie Grant of Termon.

Caolan McColgan from Naomh Padraig is right wing-back, alongside Caolan Ward of St Eunan's and Naomh Conaill's Jeaic Mac Ceallabhuí.

Midfield is made up of Rory O'Donnell from Milford and Caolan McGonigle of Buncrana.

Luke McGlynn of Glenfin is joined in the half-forward line by Ciaran Thompson from Naomh Conaill and Carndonagh's Conor O'Donnell. Up top Donegal have gone with Bundoran's Jamie Brennan, Patrick McBrearty from Kilcar and Gaoth Dobhair's Daire Ó Baoill.

The substitute goalkeeper is Gavin Mulreany from St Naul's, with the other replacements being Ardara's John Ross Molloy, Mark Curran from Dungloe, Gaoth Dobhair defender Gary McFadden, Odhran Doherty of Naomh Conaill,  Domhnailll Mac Giolla Bhríde from Gaoth Dobhair, St Michael's Hugh O'Donnell, Downings' Johnny McGroddy, Jack McSharry from Killybegs, Joel Bradley Walsh of MacCumhaill's and Milford's Kane Barrett.

Down opened their campaign with a 2-10 to 0-12 win over Monaghan on Wednesday in Castleblayney in Conor Laverty's first match in charge.
