Death notices for Donegal

The following deaths have taken place:

Michael McGill, Kilmacrennan

The peaceful death has taken place at his home on Wednesday of Michael McGill, Ballykeeran, Kilmacrennan, County Donegal F92 K0D7.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife Carole, daughters Leeann (Mikey) and Vicki, grandchildren Lilie and Fiadh, brother John, sisters Ann, Betty, Majella and Frances, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.

Michael’s remains will be reposing at his home on Thursday from 5pm until 8pm and on Friday from 12 noon until 8pm. Rosary both evenings at 8pm. Family time after the Rosary please and on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral from there on Saturday at 10.15am going to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed on the cathedral webcam.  Private cremation will take place later.

Mary Teresa Sweeney, Buncrana and Letterkenny

The death has taken place unexpectedly at her late residence, of Mary Teresa Sweeney, 6 Earlsfort, Buncrana, Donegal, F93 W180 and formerly of Letterkenny.

Predeceased by father Paudge and brother Mike, she is survived by her loving mother Teresa. Devoted mum to sons Francis, Keith, Josh and Alan and daughter Lilly. Fondly remembered by sister Noreen, brothers Paddy, Tom and Martin, goddaughter Victoria, nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbors and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence.

Funeral from there on Saturday going to St.Marys Chapel, Cockhill, Buncrana, F93 F9VE, for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Orla Egan, Churchill

The death has taken place of Orla Egan, née Clarke, Carrowtrasna, Gartan, Churchill, Donegal, F92 HW80. She passed away peacefully in the caring hands of the staff in the Donegal Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by father Kevin, mother Fionnuala and brother Michael; dearly missed by loving husband Martin, son Dombnall, daughter Vanessa, brother Paddy, son-in-law Pat, daughter-in-law Louise; fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Karen and Ruby, grandson Oisín, granddaughters Aisling, Ciara, Tara and Emer; deeply regretted by niece Aisling, nephew Garret, extended Egan and Clarke families neighbours and friends.

Removal from Eternal Light Chapel Of Rest, Mountain Top Letterkenny, F92 XE35, on Thursday evening at 6pm, going to her late residence to repose privately overnight. Wake on Friday from 1pm until 9pm.

Funeral Mass on Saturday morning in St Colmcille’s Church, Glendowan, at 11am followed by interment in Gartan Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lue if desired to the Donegal Hospice care of any family member or Charlie Mc Clafferty Funeral Director.

Betty Boyce, Ramelton

The death has taken place peacefully in Letterkenny University Hospital, of Betty Boyce, Ballgreen, Ramelton, F92 W934.

Predeceased by her husband Anthony, son Anthony, and infant children Peter and Amanda; deeply regretted and sadly missed by her sons Brian (Catherine), John (Elaine) and Harry (Cheryl), daughter Mary, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brothers John (Elaine) and Doug (Geraldine), extended family, neighbours and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her home in Ballgreen, Ramelton, with wake continuing on Thursday from 11am until 10pm, with Rosary at 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Ramelton. Interment will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Mass can be viewed on the church webcam

Family flowers only. Donations if desired to the Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital, c/o Patrick Sweeney Funeral Directors.

Brighton Mafuta, Letterkenny

The death as taken place tagically as a result of a road traffic collision, of Brighton Maufta, 7a Glen Rua Killylastin Heights, Letterkenny, Donegal, F92 VKW5.

Predeceased by father Godfrey, mother Ellinah, brothers Solomon and Admore and sister Chipo, Brighton is survived by wife Sindisiwe, sons Elroy, Delroy, Theo and daughter Miah, brothers Shepherd and Arnold and sister Rhoda. He is deeply regretted by his work colleagues, neighbours and many friends.

Brighton's remains will repose at his late residence on Thursday from 11am.

Funeral service there on Friday morning, time to be confirmed, followed by interment in New Leck Cemetery.

Seamus McLaughlin, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Seamus McLaughlin, Park Road, Sallaghraine, Letterkenny, formerly of Glenswilly.

Predeceased by his wife Jeannie, sister Mary Ellen, and brother Patrick, he is deeply regretted and sadly missed by his daughters Breidge, Noreen (Paul), Deirdre (Christopher), Sinead (Martin), Beirnie (Donal), his sister Suzanna (London), grandchildren Gary, Conor, Kyle, Kayla, Alannah, Kara, Ben and Ryan, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

His remains are reposing at his daughter Deirdre and Christopher Doherty’s residence, Creeveoughter, Rathmullan, F92 D8P6, with wake on Thursday from 12pm until 9pm, concluding with Rosary at 9pm. Family time, please, on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Friday going to St Columba’s Church, Glenswilly, for funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in the family plot in Conwal Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed on the church webcam

Jim Carson Middleton, St Johnston

The death has taken place at Brindley Manor nursing home, Convoy of James Carson Middleton, known as Jim, Burnthaw, St Johnstown.

Predeceased by his late wife Reba and brother Sammy; much-loved father of Robert (Sandra), Elizabeth (Robert), Martha (Robert), William (Ruth), Rebecca, Thomas (Laura) and David (Michaela). Jim will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, great-grand-son, brothers Roy, John and Norman.

His remains will repose at his son Robert and daughter-in-law Sandra’s home, Burnthaw, St Johnstown, F93PC53, with wake continuing on Thursday from 12 noon to 10pm. Family time please on the morning of the funeral. 

Funeral leaving from there on Friday at 1.30pm going to Ballylennon Presbyterian Church for 2pm Service of Thanksgiving for his life, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Family flowers only, donations in memory of Jim to Brindley Manor Nursing Home, care of any family member or Terence McClintock Funeral Director.

Cora Friel, Rathmullan

The death has taken place suddenly of Cora Friel, née Leavy, Red Brae, Rathmullan, F92 D4F3, formerly Coschclady, Bunbeg. 

Predeceased by her husband Dan and her grandchild Conor; deeply regretted by her loving family, Marian (Jason), Audrey (Mark), Alan (Yvonne) and Emer (Damian), grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.

Her remains reposed overnight at St Joseph’s Church, Rathmullan.

Funeral Mass at 11am on Thursday with interment afterwards in Rathmullan Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed on the church webcam
