John Campbell, Letterkenny and Burtonport

The death occurred on October 15 of John Campbell, 1 Orchard Drive, Letterkenny, and formerly Pier House, Burtonport.

He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of the staff in the Donegal Hospice.

Predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Mary (née Walsh).

He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his devoted wife, Mary (née Burns), his daughters Mairead and Colleen, his son Stephen, his brother Hugh, in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends.

Reposing at Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F93 XE35)  Friday, October 17 from 5.00pm – 8.00pm., where you are most welcome to pay your respects, concluding with removal to the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballyraine, Letterkenny (F92 PN81) for Reception Prayers.

Reposing overnight for 11.00am Requiem Mass on Saturday which can be viewed online at the Church of the Irish Martyrs YouTube channel  followed by family-only private cremation.

JJ Lafferty, Carndonagh

The death has taken place of JJ Lafferty, Corvish, Carndonagh, Donegal, F93YC82 on October 15, 2025.

Beloved husband of Nuala and much-loved father of Conor, Oran, and Cian.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his mother Margaret and father John Francis, his brothers Brendan (Nuala), Karl, and Kevin, and his sister Catriona, his nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends, and neighbours.

JJ will repose at his family home on Friday, October 17, from 12pm until 10pm, and on Saturday, October 18th, from 11am until 10pm.

The family home is private on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh, at 11am on Sunday, 19th October, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Kate Sweeney, St Johnston

The death has occurred of Mary Kate Sweeney (née McGlynn), Castledooey, St Johnston, F93FX52.

Mary Kate will be lovingly missed by her daughters, Annemarie (Gerard) and Patricia; her son, Hugh (Joanne); her grandchildren, Eoin, Farrah, Mia, Caitlin, and Flynn; and all her extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, Tommy John, and her sister, Anne.

A silent thought, a quiet prayer, for a special person in God’s care.

Mary Kate will be reposing at her late residence on Thursday, October 16 from 5pm to 10pm and on Friday, from 11am to 10pm.

Family time, please, on the morning of the funeral.

The funeral cortege will leave her residence on Saturday at 10.20 a.m., proceeding to St. Baithin’s Church, St Johnston, for 11.00 a.m. Requiem Mass, followed by burial in St. Columba’s Church Cemetery, Drumoghill, Co. Donegal.

Gavin Hanna, Donegal Town 

The death has occurred of Gavin Hanna, Ardeskin, Donegal Town and formally Midleton, Co. Cork.

Sadly missed by his wife Elaine, daughters Kate and Niamh, sons Jack, Paul, David, his mother Margaret, brothers Ronan & David, sisters Arlene(Pauric), Lisa, Ciara(Killian), Aoife(Martin), nephews, nieces, friends, extended family, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Predeceased by his father David. Gavin’s remains will repose at Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Drumrooske, Donegal Town, F94 FX3A from 3pm until 9pm on Friday, October 17.

Gavin’s requiem mass will be in St Patrick’s Church Donegal Town on Saturday, October 18at 10am with removal to Midleton, Co. Cork, immediately afterwards.

Funeral Mass in The Church of the Most Holy Rosary, St Mary’s Road, Townparks, Midleton P25P265 on Monday at 11am with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Michael Needham, Donegal Town

The death has occurred of Michael Needham, Drumcliff, Donegal Town. 

He passed away peacefully in Letterkenny University Hospital.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Phyllis, daughter Sharon (Jason), son Sean (Esther) grandchildren Finnan, Rowan, Una & Liam, nephews, nieces, neighbours, friends & extended family.

Michael’s remains will repose in Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Drumrooske, Donegal Town, F94 FX3A from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, October 16.

Michael’s requiem Mass will be in St Mary’s Church, Killymard on Friday at 11am with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only donations if so desired to The patient comfort fund Letterkenny University Hospital.

Leo McGuinness, Culdaff

The peaceful death has taken place at the Donegal Hospice of Leo McGuinness, Ballyharry, Lecamey, Culdaff F93 DH51.

Beloved husband of Mary Jo and much-loved father of Noel (Judy), Frankie (Martin) and Kieran (Julie).

Devoted grandfather to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sister Nuala McLaughlin (Moville), his nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Leo’s remains will repose at his home on Thursday, October 16 and on Friday, October 17 from 12pm-9pm on both days, where you are all welcome to pay your respects.

Funeral from there on Saturday, October 18 at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Bocan, followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

Kathleen Ward, Portsalon

The death has occurred at St Eunan’s Nursing Home of Kathleen Ward (née McAteer), Portsalon and formerly of Ray, Doaghbeg, Downings and Kilsaran, Co. Louth.

Retired primary teacher. Predeceased by her husband Enda and daughter Thecla.

Forever loved and deeply missed by her son Ronan (Dundalk), daughters Ita (Ballybofey), Maeve (Letterkenny) and Dara (USA), her grandchildren Clare, Neil, Sadhbh, Aoife, Rochelle, Michael and Cian, her great-grandchildren Brayden, Senan, Fionn, Béibhinn and Nora.

Sister of Margaret Keeney (Letterkenny), Bridie Boyle (Ray), and the late Jimmy Kelly, Sr. May McAteer, Nora Harkin, Eithne McGrath, Gerard McAteer, Agnes McAteer, Francis McAteer and Paddy McAteer. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her son, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Patricia, grandsons-in-law Peter, Victor, Joey, Doug, sister-in-law Sheila (Ray), nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.

Reposing at her home in Croaghross, Portsalon (F92 R5H9) from 2pm on Thursday, October 16.

Rosary at 8pm. House private after 10pm and on the morning of the funeral.

Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Fanavolty, Fanad, followed by a private cremation.

James McDermott, Toronto and Gweedore

The death has taken place of James McDermott, Toronto, Canada and Gweedore Station on September 2, 2025.

His remains will leave Gweedore Station on Saturday the 18th October for Funeral Mass at 11.00am in the Church of the Sacred Heart Dunlewey, with interment afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery.

The Funeral Mass can be viewed on the church’s webcam.

Danny Coyle, Lifford and St Johnston

The death has taken place October 15th 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar of Danny Coyle, late of St. Columba’s Grove, Ballyduff Park, Lifford and formerly of Trentagh, St. Johnston.

Beloved son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Coyle and much loved brother of Celine and the late John, Willie, Anna, Mena, Teresa, Maureen, Nellie, Tom and the late baby Bernadette.

Reposing at St Columba’s Grove on Wednesday, October 15 from 6pm.

Funeral leaving St Columba’s Grove on Friday at 12.20p.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Baithin’s Church, St Johnston at 1pm.

Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing sister, nieces, nephews and family circle.

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

Family time please from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.


Conall Carr, Kilcar

The peaceful death of Conall Carr has occurred in the exceptional care of the staff of Harbour Lights Nursing Home.

Sadly missed by his son Kevin, his sister Nuala Curley, sisters in law Mary Agnes and Rose, nieces, nephews, his many cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his loving wife Manuella, his parents Francis and Brigid, brothers Prionnsias, Eamon, Michael, Sean, Paddy and Vincent, sisters Maureen (O Gara) Eileen (Mc Govern) and Maeve (Brennan).

Arriving to St Cartha’s Church Kilcar (F94H2Y5) at 8pm on Friday, October 17. Funeral mass on Saturday, October 18 at 12 noon.

Burial afterwards in the local cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired to Harbour Lights Nursing Home. Conall’s family are eternally grateful for the love and care shown to Conall. Conall’s funeral mass can be viewed live here.
