Pauline McEleney, Clonmany

The death has taken place at Carndonagh Community Hospital of Pauline McEleney, Tiernasligo, Urris, Clonmany.
Loving wife of Packie, Loving mother of Hughie, John, Ann, Pauline and Brigid. Loving grandmother of Sean, Laura, Patrick, Daniel, Kieran and Brian.
Her remain will repose at her home from 11am on Thursday, May 30. Family, friends and neighbours welcome.
Funeral leaving from there on Friday, May 31 at 10.20am, going to St Michael’s church, Urris for requiem Mass at 11am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Carndonagh Community Hospital, Co any family member or Comiskey Funeral Directors. House private please on the morning of the funeral.

Eileen Rankin, Ture

The death has occurred of Eileen Rankin, Ture, Muff. Beloved wife of the late Robin, much loved mother of Gordon, Ronald, Lorna and Sheena, mother-in-law of Jacqueline, Rob and Colin, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and dear sister of Elsie, Honor, William, Samuel, Norman and the late Alex, Ernest and Albert.

Everyone is welcome to the family home, on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 pm and from 6-9 pm. House private at all other times and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral service will take place in Greenbank Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 1 pm. Burial afterwards in adjoining burying ground.

Daniel Noel (Danny) McLaughlin, Creeslough

The death has occurred of Daniel Noel (Danny) McLaughlin of Yonkers, New York, formerly of Creeslough. He passed away on May 27th 2024, at the age of 71.  He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Isabel, his daughter Mary Alvarez, his siblings; Charlie McLaughlin, Michael (Sheila) McLaughlin, Kathleen McLaughlin, Finola (Raj) McLaughlin, Jethwa and Brendan (Theresa) McLaughlin as well as his sister in law Margaret McLaughlin.

He will also be deeply missed by his uncle Donald McLaughlin, aunts Mary O'Keefe and Josie Gallagher, his nieces; Ashling, Nichola, Laoisha, Sharon, Caroline, Michelle, Jenny and Orla, his nephews; Emmet, Colm and Raymond as well as his godson Donal. Danny will be missed by everyone who knew him. He has a special place in his heart for Mary O'Keefe who he called Rymomma, his close friends Eugene, Collum and Danny Brown. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Kathleen, and his brother Raymond.

Danny's remains will be reposing at the home of his brother Brendan, 11 Birchill Upper, Creeslough F92 EW86, for family only on Saturday, June 1. Wake will take place there on Sunday, June 2 from 12 noon to 10.00pm, everyone welcome.

Funeral Mass in St Michael's Church, Creeslough, on Monday, the 3rd June 2024, at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in Doe Cemetery. Family time, please, on the morning of the funeral.

Sam Maxwell, Ballindrait

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Sam Maxwell, Cumberland Lodge, Ballindrait, Lifford (F93 EO65). Predeceased by his late wife Adelaide. Beloved father of daughters Amanda (Dennis) and Liz (Andy) sons Joe (Stephanie) Charley (Lee).

Much-loved grandfather of Sam, Jon, Victoria, Tynan, Jace and Bevan. Sam will be sadly missed by his brother Joe, sisters Lily and Edie. His remains will repose at his home from 3pm, Thursday, May 30. Funeral leaving from there on Sunday, June at 2pm for 3pm funeral service in Trinity Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Letterkenny followed by private cremation at Lakelands Crematorium Cavan on Monday. Family time please from 10pm to 12 noon and on the morning of the funeral.

Alma O'Donnell, Carrigans

The death has occurred of Alma O'Donnell (née Murphy) Carrig Inn, Carrigans.  The peaceful death has occurred surrounded by her loving family of Alma O’Donnell nee Murphy, Carrig Inn, Carrigans, Co Donegal.

Alma will be lovingly missed by her children Michael (Patricia), Margaret (Denis Duffy, Carrickfinn), Liam (Mairead) and Murray (Patricia) her 7 grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews and all her extended family and friends.

Alma was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice, her sister Roma and brother William may they all rest in peace.

Deep are the memories, precious they stay; no passing of time, will take them away. Alma will be reposing at her son Michael’s residence, Main Street, Carrigans F93 HD99 from 3pm today Thursday to 10pm and on Friday from 11am to 10pm. Rosary each evening at 9pm, Family time please from 10pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Cortege leaving Main Street, Carrigans on Saturday, June 1 at 1.45pm going to St Baithin’s Church, St Johnston for 2.30pm Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in All Saints Church cemetery, Newtowncunningham.

Anthony Byrne, Gortahork, Donegal

The death has taken place in Donegal Hospice of Anthony Byrne, Curransport, Meenlaragh, Gortahork, Co Donegal F92 F5E5.

His remains are going to St Colmcille's Church, Knockfola F92 D586 (Teach Pobail Cholmcille, Cnoc Fola) on Thursday, May 30 at 1pm, to repose overnight. Funeral mass takes place Friday, May 31 at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

James Gallagher, Dublin and Ardara

The death has occurred of James (Jim) Gallagher late of Finglas and Iona Villas, Glasnevin – formerly Ardara, Co Donegal, Roadstone, Excel Security and Batchelors, Cabra. 

Jim will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten by his beloved wife Mai, loving daughters Sinéad and Suzanne, sons Danny and Eamon, grandchildren Lauren, Emily, Libby, Haley, Elliott, Holly and Josh, sisters Mary, Brid and Annie, brothers Donal and Paddy, sons-in-law John and Anto, daughters-in-law Tracy and Jana, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Joan Doherty (née Hourigan), Stranorlar and Limerick City

The death has occurred at her late residence of Joan Doherty, 559 Ard Mc Cool, Stranorlar and formerly 60 St Ita's Street, St Mary's Park, Limerick. Beloved wife of John, and much-loved mother of Shirley, Jonathan, and Richard, dearly loved sister of Michael, Tony, and the late Frances, Rita, Breda, Angeline, Bommy and David. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband, daughter, sons, brothers, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Remains reposing at Mc Cool’s Chapel of Rest on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 from 7pm to 10pm, when everyone is welcome to pay their respects. Funeral leaving from there on Saturday, June 1, at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar, at 11am. Cremation will take place afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the parish webcam.

Bridie Bradley, Strabane and Donegal

The death has taken place May 29th 2024 at Melmount Manor of Bridie Bradley (née Gallagher) `The Orchard` 31 Urney Road, Strabane and formerly of Crannamadue, Dungloe. Beloved wife of the late Jim, much loved mother of Margaret, Bernadette, Breige, Gerard, Vincent, Maria, Roisin, Pauline, Michael and Mark and sister of Rosie, Anne, Jimmy and the late Molly, Ellen, John and Joe. Reposing at her home on Thursday, May 30 from 3pm. Family time please from 10pm to 11am.

Funeral leaving her home on Saturday, June 1 at 9.15am for Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Melmount at 10a.m. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowing sons, daughters, brother, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family circle. Donations in lieu of flowers please to Melmount Manor Resident’s Comfort Fund.  The Requiem Mass can be viewed live via the parish webcam.

Clare O'Sullivan, Carndonagh

The tragic death of Clare O’Sullivan of Magheramore, Carndonagh, daughter of the late Nelly and Mick O’Sullivan, has occurred in Spain.

She is survived by her brothers, Collins and Tom, sister-in-law Karen, nephews Conor, Thomas, and Jack, and niece Laura.

Clare’s ashes will be returning from Spain post-ceremony.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 31, at 11am in the Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Sr Eileen Friel, Mountcharles and USA

The death has taken place of Sr Eileen Friel, Glencoagh, Mountcharles and San Antonio, Texas. She was a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

Predeceased by her parents Conn and MaryAnn, her siblings Conn, Cathal and Marion; loved and deeply missed by her brothers, Liam, Dan, Eamon, sister-in-law Anne, nieces, nephews, her religious sisters and friends. She will be remembered with love by her religious community and as a wonderful sister and Aunt by her family.

Burial will take place in San Antonio, Texas on Friday.
