Death notices for Donegal on Thursday evening

The following deaths have occurred:

Seamus Kelly, Buncrana

The death has occurred, surrounded by his loving family, of Seamus Kelly, Stranaclea, Illies, Ballymagan, Buncrana. 

Seamus will be sadly missed by his sons Denis and Seamus, daughter Collette, his daughter-in-law Sharon, son-in-law Laurence and his cherished grandchildren his sisters Rose, Anna, Lucy, Bridie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, neighbours and his many friends.

His remains are reposing at his home. Family time 10 pm until 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral on Saturday at 11am in St Mary's Church, Cockhill, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/cockhill

Maeve Murray, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Maeve Murray née Nolan, Castlebane Letterkenny.

Predeceased by her husband Charles, son Andrew and daughter Mary O’Reilly, she is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, daughters Ann Calpin (Glencar), Carole McGlynn, Angela McGinley, Dee McGowan and Fiona McBrearty (Lisnennan), sons Cathal (Woodlands), Eugene, Martin and Michael (Lisnennan), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, extended family and many friends.

Her remains are reposing at her daughter Dee McGowan’s residence Lisnennan (F92 XW6F) on Thursday until 10pm with Rosary at 9pm. Family time please on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Friday to the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballyraine Letterkenny (F92 PN81) for 1pm Requiem Mass which can be viewed online at the Church of the Irish Martyrs YouTube channel, followed by burial in the family plot in Conwal Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if wished, to Hillcrest House Residents Comfort Fund, c/o Paschal Blake, Funeral Director, Stoney Arch, New Line Rd, Letterkenny.

Philly Donaghey, Clonmany

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Philly Donaghey (Smokey), Annaugh, Clonmany, F93 86P6.

Dear husband of Annemarie, beloved father of Paul and Raymond, sadly missed by his brothers, sister, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters-in-law and wider circle of family and friends.

His remains are reposing at his late residence.

Funeral from there on Saturday morning at 10.30am going to St Mary’s Church, Clonmany for Requiem Mass at 11am with interment afterwards in the New Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/clonmany

Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Clonmany Community Centre and St Colmcille Village, Cleagh, Clonmany c/o any family member. Family time please from 11pm to 11am.

Fanny Russell, Churchill

The death has occurred peacefully in Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by her caring family, of Fanny Russell (née Gamble), Churchtown F92 KP89.

Predeceased by parents Charles and Annie, husband George, brothers Charlie, William and Jim and sister Lillie, she is deeply regretted by sons George and wife Trish (Churchtown), Austin and wife Lorraine (The Glebe, Churchill), Noel & wife Pamela (Tirargus, Churchill); sorely missed by her sister Kathleen (Philadelphia); always remembered by her grandchildren, extended family members, good neighbours and friends.

Fanny's remains are reposing at her late residence. Family time please from 10pm until 11am. 

Funeral from there on Friday going to St Columba's Parish Church, Churchill, for service at 4pm followed by interment in Gartan Cemetery. Funeral service can be viewed live on Charlie Mc Clafferty Funeral Director Facebook page 

Muriel McGrath, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has occurred at Hillcrest House Nursing Home, Long Lane, Letterkenny of Muriel McGrath, née McNamee, Rowan House, Magherennan, Letterkenny F92 X8DV and formerly from Glenties.

Deeply missed by her loving son Sean (Churchill), daughters Anne (Letterkenny), Joan (Germany) and Lorna (Letterkenny), sons-in-law Allan and Joe, daughter-in-law Ann (Letterkenny), grandchildren Sinéad, Brendan, Fionnuala, Paul, Deirdre, Ciara, Thomas and Gillian, her seven great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours. Muriel is predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1999 and her son Art in 2018.

Muriel’s remains will be reposing at her late home on Thursday from 12 noon until 10pm with Rosary at 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.

Interment will take place afterwards in Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny.

John McGlashan, Glenties 

The sudden death has occurred, at his home, of John Mc Glashan, 6 The Rock, Glenties and formerly from Vale of Leven, Alexandria.

Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Maree Mc Glashan. Sadly missed by his wife Margaret, his daughters Sharon and Maree, his sister Jackie, sons-in-law Enda and Marco and grandchildren Abbey, Evelyn, Kieran, Marco, Luca and Rocco, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.

Wake at his home on Thursday until 9pm. House private on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral service on Friday morning at 11am in St. Connell's Church, Glenties, with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.  Funeral service can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/glenties

Tony Cunningham, Ardara and Trim

The death has occurred of Anthony (Tony) Cunningham of St.Joseph’s CNU, Trim, Co Meath and originally of Ardara.

Predeceased by his wife Marie, survived by his grieving sisters and brother, Bridget, Margaret, Celine and Charles and children Anna-Marie, Anthony, Michaela, Marcus and Francesca, his grandchildren and great grandchild.

His remains are reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday followed by funeral service and Cremation.

Barry Gough, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Barry Gough, 8 Station Road, Ballyshannon. He passed away peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.

Beloved husband of Laura, much loved father of Seamus (Honang Ngoc Thao My) Siobhan, and brother Baden. Predeceased by his younger brother Boyd, relatives and friends.

Private family cremation will take place at Lakeland's Crematorium Cavan at a later date. Family home private at all times. No flowers, by request.

Terry Tinney, London and Castlefinn

The death has occurred of Terry Tinney, London and Castlefinn. He passed away peacefully early on Saturday morning, May 27 in London, England.

Terry will be sorely and deeply missed by his wife Jean, children Dean, Jason and Kirsty, grandchildren Orla, Erin, Trafford and Winter, brothers Anthony and Laurence, sisters-in-law Doreen and Sylvia, son and daughter-in-law; Daniel and Rachel and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His funeral Mass will take place on Friday, June 23 at 10am, in St Aidan’s Catholic Church in East Acton, London and followed by burial at Mortlake Cemetery.
