'Incredible' - RTE Late Late viewers stunned as guests end up in audience amid wild scenes

The RTE Late Late Show audience were moved to their feet on Friday night as three members of Westlife opened the show with an upbeat performance. 

The boyband were on the sofa with host Patrick Kielty to chat about their evergreen careers and upcoming run at Dublin's 3Arena. 

Before their chat, they performed a medley of their chart hits, including World Of Our Own. Towards the end of the song, the crowd rose their feet as Shane, Kian and Nicky marched up the steps to share a dance with fans. 

Mark Feehily was notably absent from the line-up but the Sligo man has been taking an extended leave from the band to take care of his health. He will be missing from upcoming gigs.

Fans rushed to social media to praise the longevity of the Flying Without Wings hitmakers. One wrote: "My favourite band forever, they were incredible!"

A second added: "Westlife on the Late Late are enjoyable and happy. True gents flying the Irish flag all over the world. 'You lift me up'. Keep up the great work."

Others were more critical of the performance. One viewer said: "A standing ovation for Westlife! Back in the good old days that was reserved people that genuinely did something amazing!"

Another viewer duly hit back: "Lots slagging Westlife on the #latelateshow and its not my kind of music. But they are incredibly successful and bring a lot of happiness to people, which is more than most of us will do, so feck the begrudgers."
