PICTURES: RTÉ's Home of the Year continues as three more properties battle it out

A renovated bungalow in Co. Offaly, a townhouse in Co. Kildare and an Art Deco home in Belfast will all feature in the latest episode of RTÉ's Home of the Year which will be broadcast this Tuesday night.

Season ten of the popular TV series continues at 8.30pm on RTÉ One television and the RTÉ Player as the three properties are put under the microscope by the expert judges.

Only one of the homes featured will make it through to the final which will broadcast in April.

Season 10, Episode 5: Townhouse in Co. Kildare

Homeowner Tríona, who will feature in this Tuesday's episode of Home of the Year lives in a three-bedroom duplex townhouse in Co. Kildare. 

Tríona describes her home as her sanctuary and tells viewers that she loved designing and creating it single-handedly.

Tríona’s creative flair is evident throughout her home as it is filled with her own paintings, artwork and restored and upcycled furniture.

She has rescued and given new life to so many pieces of furniture, which she gathered over time from second hand sources, skips or passed down from family…each holding a story, a fond memory or strong sentimental value.    

Tríona’s style is a combination of period influences and French country that is influenced by her travels over the years. She loves that her home represents her style, creativity, and passion for art.

It is a place for her to not only be creative but to enjoy a sense of calm. 

Season 10, Episode 5: Renovated bungalow in Co. Offaly

Rebecca and Eamonn live in a renovated 1950’s bungalow with their two young children in Co. Offaly.

When they purchased their home, it was in need of a full renovation, but Rebecca and Eamonn could see it had good vibes with lots of potential.   

They left two original external sides of the house and gutted the rest. Their main goal was to create a large light-filled functional kitchen, dining, living space to the rear of the property, so they extended out the back.   

The couple wanted to incorporate ocean blues, greens, and sand tones throughout the home to create a relaxing calming environment which is near and dear to both as Rebecca grew up in oceanside Nova Scotia, Canada and Eamonn spent childhood summers in Donegal. 

Season 10, Episode 5: Art Deco home in Belfast

Homeowners Sinead and John live in a 1920’s semi-detached Art Deco home in Belfast.   

They purchased their home in 2017 and took on a big renovation project. The home had rotting sash windows, an overgrown garden and an interior that had been left to ruin.   

Together the couple brought the home back to life. Sinead saw this as a personal challenge and concentrated on the interiors to restore as many of the original 1920’s features as they could. 

They even designed the kitchen themselves and added a large extension.   

They love that visitors can always see their personalities in the interior with John claiming the black and white details and Sinead bringing the glitz and glam of the 1920’s.   

Sinead and John are proud to have created this home and to have restored it to all of it’s glory. 

Making the difficult decisions for the tenth series of Home of the Year are the judging panel of architects Hugh Wallace and Amanda Bone and interior designer Sara Cosgrove.
