An Garda Síochána have confirmed that an Irish national was arrested on Thursday 10 October in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following the issuing of an Interpol Red Notice.
Speaking on the arrest, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris said: "We have received news from our colleagues in the UAE about an important intervention and arrest that they have made, and we welcome that very much."
Commissioner Harris added: "We see that as a significant development in our ongoing international efforts to combat transnational organised crime."
Commissioner Harris said that more information regarding the identity of the individual arrested and the next steps in the case will be communicated in the coming days.
